Hearing and Vision Screening

Pinewoods Screening Services will be at Cathedral House on Monday, October 17th to perform hearing and vision screening for the children.  Children who turned four years old on or before September 1st are required to have vision and hearing tests. If your child has already received these services by his or her pediatrician, please turn in the screening results to the front desk.  If you would like to check on the status of your child’s screening, we have a list of the required children who need these services in the main office.

School Pictures

REMINDER: We will be having school pictures tomorrow through Thursday!! Lifetouch will take pictures with the children at their scheduled class times on the following days:

Wednesday – All children with siblings

Thursday – Nursery I and II, Toddler II, Primary I and II, Kindergarten

Friday – Movement I and II, Toddler I

NAEYC Update

Some of our teachers have completed another phase on their road to having Child Development Associates (CDA’s)  earlier this week by having their first field observation! We will be sending out a parent questionnaire next week and plan to conduct another survey like we did in May in the next several months which will lead us into our next phase — Self Assessment. Looking forward, we will continue to provide quality professional development to our teachers with classes beginning in October. We hope to have five teachers receive their CDA credentials by the start of the new year!

New Parent Luncheon

REMINDER: There will be a “New Parent Luncheon” tomorrow at noon with Ms. Teri and Ms. Swaroop. All new parents are encouraged to come!!

Happy Birthday Maria Montessori

Today is Maria Montessori’s birthday!! The principles she instilled in her colleagues are the very principles we teach today. Throughout her life, her studies inspired people all over the world to adopt a different approach to teaching children. From all of us at Cathedral House, we would like to remember Ms. Maria Montessori and celebrate her life that started one hundred forty one years ago today!! We are so grateful to her for all of her teachings and would not be here without her!! Happy Birthday to a woman with an extraordinary legacy whose teachings live on through us!!

Sign up for Extracurricular Activities

It’s that time again!! The start of a new school year!! Many of our friends will be settling into their new classes, meeting their teachers and classmates, and getting to know their new rooms.  Parents, don’t forget to enroll your child in some of the extracurricular activities by the end of the month!! See the front desk for registration information and sign up sheets. Below is a list of the programs, the days they are offered, and the classes who are eligible:

Mondays – Developmental Gymnastics (MII, TI) and Music (TII, PI, PII, K)

Tuesdays – Mouse Club (TII, PI, PII, K)

Wednesdays – Chinese (TI, TII, PI, PII, K)  and Chapel (PI, PII, K)

Thursdays - Arts Alive (ALL CLASSES) and JumpBunch (PI, PII, K)

Fridays - Dance (TII, PI, PII, K)

Toddler Aquariums

To celebrate our theme “Diving Deep Into The Ocean”, Ms. Patricia had the Toddler I class make their very own aquariums!! Using a shoebox, they filled them with their favorite fish, sea shells, and sand. After everyone turned in their projects, Ms. Patricia lined them up outside the class and numbered them to see if others could guess “who’s who”. It was a very fun activity with lots of thought and effort put into it by the teachers, parents, and students. Take a look at all 15 aquariums below and see if you can guess which child created them!!

PTO Meeting tomorrow

There will be a PTO Meeting tomorrow at noon!! All parents are invited to attend. Come give us your best ideas!!
