Playground Details
Why does Cathedral House need a new playground?
CHES’ playground is nearly twenty years old and requires renovation. CHES currently has a unique need for support to achieve a specific goal that is critical to the school’s ongoing success and viability as a premiere educational institution – rebuilding its playground.
How will Cathedral House students benefit from having a new playground?
Children like to play, but children also need play to flourish. Many of the developmental tasks and social skills that children must achieve can be most effectively learned through outdoor play. These tasks include exploring, risk taking, fine and gross motor development, and absorption of vast amounts of basic knowledge. Playgrounds are places where children’s play can truly take form. Good outdoor playgrounds must be large enough and designed in such a way that children can express themselves fully. A playground is a place where children can safely run and jump and hide, expanding their imagination and exploring the natural world.
