Hula Hoopin It

April 26, 2017 by Movement One

Good Morning!

Today’s special activity was hula hoop crawling. Our friends were very intrigued by the big hoop and watched it’s every move. Some of our friends were very outgoing and wanted to be first to walk or crawl through the hoop while some of our friends didn’t want anything to do with the hoop. Enjoy these pictures of our friends having fun –

Hello!

Today’s special activity for Week of the Young Child was finger-painting! The children really enjoy finger-painting because it allows their creativity to shine through. Make sure to check out their artwork in our pod hallway.

Have a nice day!

Welcome back, we hope everyone had a great weekend. The children shared some of the things they did to help the Earth, like recycling with dad, cleaning the backyard, picking up trash, and looking for recycling signs with mom.

Our Week of The Young Child started with the children having a fun time being seeds in the Arts Alive Garden. The children were planted in the soil and grew into beautiful flowers. They swayed in the wind, danced with other flowers, tip toed through the garden, and even crawled like inchworms!

Louise was excited to share a lime that she grew in her garden with the class!

Week of the Young Child

April 24, 2017 by Movement One

Welcome Back!

We hope everyone enjoyed their weekend. This week we will be celebrating “Week of The Young Child”. This week celebrates early learning, young children, and their families and teachers. We will be having fun activities throughout the week and encourage everyone to wear purple to celebrate the young child.

Today was a beautiful Monday and our friends enjoyed their playtime. Outdoor play time is critical in early childhood development because it provides the ideal environment that allows children to practice using their gross motor skills – the playground provides ample room to run, crawl, and climb. Besides physical development outdoor play also allows children the opportunity for social and cognitive development.

Our class has enjoyed learning about Earth Day.  The children have enjoyed reading our Earth Day books, working on a recycling worksheet, Earth Day classification lesson, and art project.  The children were very eager to practice becoming Earth helpers by making sure the lights were turned off when we were not in the room, turning off the water and using one or two napkins.  We watched The Magic School Bus: Recycling(https://youtu.be/R6bpsYx2NTI) and learned more about how recycling works.
