Knobbed Cylinders

April 10, 2017 by Movement One

Welcome Back!

We hope everyone enjoyed their weekend. Today the children have been working with our knobbed cylinder lesson. This lesson helps children learn about visual discrimination. At first children complete the lesson using trial and error but gradually they become better at estimating size and volume and can match the cylinder to the correct hole. The Knobbed Cylinder lesson also helps children strengthen their fine motor skills as they handle the knobs and also helps develop hand-eye coordination. Enjoy this video of sweet Nora working with the Knobbed Cylinder lesson.

See you tomorrow!

Circle Time Fun!

April 6, 2017 by Movement One

Happy Friday Eve!

This morning in circle time we took turns working with our color seal lesson. The children really enjoy working with the color seals because they are specially weighted so they are able to manipulate the seal without it tipping over. The children are encouraged to place or toss the rings onto the seal this helps develop muscle control, hand eye coordination, and it also presents the opportunity for us to practice taking turns.

We hope everyone enjoys their day!

April 4, 2017 by Movement One

Hello!

Whether it be with a spoon or with their hands our friends are big on feeding themselves. Self-feeding skills are important because they help develop confidence, independence, hand grasp, hand-eye coordination, and sensory processing skills. Enjoy this picture of sweet Leigh enjoying her breakfast –
