Botany

During the month of March, we will exploring and studying Botany involving both Plant Science and Nature in the classrooms. We will observe firsthand the beginning signs of Spring around us from flowers sprouting to weather changes. Some of the great lessons children may be presented with are: planting seeds, growing plants indoors, caring for/watering plants, parts of a plant, parts of a flower, stages of plant growth/how it grows as well as comparing and contrasting seeds are just a few of hands-on activities we will explore together.

From the time when humans first appeared on Earth they have used plants in their daily lives. They began by using plants as a source of food and gradually added other uses such as clothing, housing, medicines, and dyes. We explore plants used for food, textiles and dyes, and for lumber as well as the care of indoor and outdoor plants, in particular those that are completely dependent on people for their survival.
