During Montessori work time, the children continued working with their addition skills. The lesson today to help with this is called Addition with Dice. Children roll dice, then add the number of dots showing.

This morning Jump Bunch class was filled with so much excitement. The children really enjoyed practicing their target throwing. They got to throw balls at a target and count how many points they made at the end of class. Ask your child how many points they made, you might be surprised.

Tomorrow is dance class. This class begins at 9:30.

Book orders are going home today. They can be found in your child’s backpack.

Book orders are due Wed. Sept. 27 .

Car Drawing

September 21, 2017 by Movement One

Today our friends discovered a creative way to draw. We attached markers to cars and let the children drive the cars back and forth. This activity was an awesome way for our friends to practice using their gross motor skills.

Enjoy this video of sweet Mary –

On circle we reviewed the lifecycle of a seed and read the book The Tiny Seed by Eric Carle. The children enjoyed seeing the seed’s journey from a small seed into a flower. The children also enjoyed watching a video of how a seed becomes a plant. ( https://youtu.be/tkFPyue5X3Q )

During our work cycle some of the children worked on their pouring skills. The children enjoyed pouring red rice from left to right and watching the rice pour into the pitchers.

This morning’s lesson was over transportation. We talked about the many ways we could travel on land, in the air and on water. The children came up with great transportation methods like using a boogie board, a submarine, a parachute and a train and many other ideas we could use to travel with. Ask your child their favorite way to travel. The lessons shown below are, Transportation sorting and Transportation squeeze. The transportation squeeze lesson helps strengthen the children’s hand muscles. When they squeeze the rubber van air comes out of it and blows the pom-pom balls around.

Our story today during chapel was called The Vinyards Workers. This story helped with the teaching of generositiy.

Tomorrow is Jumpbunch class. This class begins at 10:30.

Parent Orientation is tomorrow at 4:30. You may join us in Kindergarten for this event. Please remember to park in the Christ Church parking garage and bring in your ticket to get validated.
