On circle we reviewed the lessons we presented this week. The children enjoyed working with all the lessons. We read a book about Martin Luther King Jr. and learned about his dream of everyone being kind and friendly with each other. The children liked his dream and worked on a worksheet that told us their dreams are.

Today was the first dance class of the semester. The children had a fun time and were excited to continue to learn dance moves!

We read The Wish Tree by Kyo Maclear about a little boy and his sled looking for a wish tree and all the animals they befriend as on their journey to find the tree. The class continued to discuss ways to be kind to each other and also started to learned a bit about Martin Luther King Jr.

The children enjoyed working on their order, coordination, concentration, and independence with the lessons in the practical life area. They were excited to work with the new winter themed materials in the spooning, transfer, tonging, and sorting lessons.

We read Penguin and Pinecone by Salina Yoon about the friendship between a penguin and a pinecone and how love helps their friendship grow. The children enjoyed the story and thought of ways to be kind to each other. We worked with two new winter spot the difference work pages, the children spotted the different object in each row and marked it with a chip.

Do you know what frio means? We introduced our Spanish vocabulary words for the month and learned that frio means cold. The children were eager to work with the new words. The children worked on a phonetic work sheet cutting and gluing objects beginning with the “m” phonetic sound.

We had our first Soccer Shots class of the semester. The children had a great time and were happy to see Coach Jesus and Coach Ariel.

Music class was a fun time yesterday! The children were excited to tell Mr. Jason about their fun times during our Winter Break and were eager to sing and dance along with him. We had a visit from Farmer Earl, who needed our help finding his boots and sang a song about a girl named Susanna as the children played the shakers. Mr. Jason brought a harmonica for the children to listen and guess songs that he played for them.
