February 6, 2017 by Kindergarten

This morning the children worked in the Sensorial area with a lesson called the Small Hexagon box. This lesson helps children figure out that new shapes can be made from other shapes. It also helps teach the names of Geometric shapes such as the rhombus, hexagon and trapezoid.

Book orders are in. If you and your child order books they have been placed in their backpacks.

Tomorrow we will have a Montessori teacher observing out classroom. The children do a fantastic job showing off their skills when visitors come.

Our Love Note station is set on the Kindergarten bulletin board. Please feel free to stop off during your drop off and/or pick-up time to write a simple love note to your child. Please make sure you include your child’s name on the note so we know who it’s for.

Welcome back, we hope everyone had a great weekend.

Did you know that a mail carrier delivers mail? We worked with a community helper lesson in the language area and learned what a mechanic, nurse, construction worker, chef, pharmacist, and mail carrier do.

We have a mail box that is waiting on Love Notes from home! We have provided supplies for you to write a Love Note for your child. We will read them daily.

Do you know who’s playing in the Super Bowl?

We learned the names of the two teams playing: Falcons and Patriots. We saw pictures of the quarterbacks, the ring and trophy they win, and the uniform and safety gear the players wear to protect themselves.

Everyone looked great in their jerseys!

Please take a look at our front door. Our Valentine’s Day Snacks sign -up. Please feel free to sign-up.

  • to check the diaper chart and bring in diapers if needed.

Special Reminders

  • You can locate love note supplies on our classroom door – we will be writing notes until February 14th.
  • Our classroom will have a Valentine’s party on the 14th – check out our signup sheet to bring in something to share with our friends.

We hope everyone has a safe fun filled Super Bowl Weekend! See you Monday.

So Many Textures!

February 3, 2017 by Movement One

Happy Friday!

This week we have introduced new sensory lessons during our morning circle time. We introduced a set of pink heart pillows that have soft bumps on the surface, different size red and pink pompoms (Big/Little), and wooden hearts with a rough surface. Everybody really enjoyed squeezing the pillows and passing the pompoms. As we took turns holding the different items we discussed the different textures that we were experiencing. Here are a few pictures J
