Did you know today is the first day of Fall? Our class talked about the seasons and learned there our four seasons. We also talked about some of the things that happen in the Fall like leaves changing color and falling from the trees, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and the cooler weather( we explained how in Houston it takes us a bit longer to feel the cooler weather!)

The children worked on their fine motor skills with an alphabet tracing worksheet. They are very excited to show you their work.

Hello Everyone!

This morning during Circle time we discussed the concept of “in front – behind.” Not only did the children learn the vocabulary, but they worked on the concept concretely by placing objects in front and behind them. They then practiced positions with their peers, and followed simple and complex directions. Later we focused on “Walking in a line” and encouraged the children to tell us which friend was in front of them and who was behind them.

Did you know we now have a Yoga class on Wednesday mornings? All children participate in this class, and let me just say it was a big hit for them. Our Yoga instructor’s name is Mr. Nicholas. He taught us different Yoga positions such as the Tree pose, The upward dog, the downward dog, the frog, etc. Ask your child to show you some of what they learned.

Today was our 1st chapel day for the school year and everyone appeared to enjoy our new chapel routine. Father Art and Ms. Carrie Ann refreshed our memory of some songs that we had learned last year and during VBS this summer. We also had a special Birthday celebration for Olivia. Please remember that all parents are invited to chapel and especially during their child’s birthday to participate in their Birthday prayer.

On circle we worked with our sound object matching cards. We matched objects to the beginning sound card they matched.(i.e. we matched a mop, mushroom, and milk to the beginning sound card that mice on it)

Our class had yoga class with Mr. Nick. He showed us some moves that helped us breathe and stretch. The children enjoyed the class.

Today was our first chapel. The children enjoyed singing sons with Father Art and Ms. Kerri Anne. We learned how to say mother and father in sign language.
