What a fun filled day we had today!

Our fun started with Jumpbunch. Coach Adrienne brought balls and a hoop for us to practice shooting baskets. We also had Coach Liam and Coach Ryan join our class to observe our class.

We also had a visit from Officer Anthony and Officer Teevah. They spoke to us about the things officers do and about being kind. They also brought coloring books and sticker badges.

The children LOVED having breakfast for lunch. It was a very special treat.

This afternoon we will have fun on our Arts Alive adventure.

Did you know that leaves have veins?

We worked with the leaf nomenclature lesson in the science area and learned the names of some of the parts of the leaf: the blade, margin, stipules, petiole, and veins. We also learned that the veins carry chlorophyll to the leaf and plant.

Take a look at the cute monkeys the children made for art today. Monkeys are some of the animals that we saw that live in the Amazon rainforest.

The children were excited to see video of Michael Phelps winning his gold medal and the USA Women’s gymnastics team win their gold.

Do you know how many layers the Amazon Rainforest has?

We watched a video about the rainforest during our circle time. We learned that the rainforest has four layers. We saw some of the animals that live in the rainforest and learned that they never have to leave the rainforest because they have plenty to eat and drink in the rainforest. We also learned that the amazon river is the longest river in the world and is over four thousand miles long.

Here is a link to the video we saw:

On circle we reviewed the facts we learned about Brazil and talked about the Olympics.

Do you know who the first athletes to play the games? We learned that only boys were allowed to play in the first Olympic games, the winners won a crown made out of olive leaves, and that Olympic torch stays lit the whole time the games are played. The children saw pictures of some of the sports played and were excited to see video of Usain Bolt running and Michael Phelps swimming. The children also colored an Olympic torch worksheet.

Next week we will have a special menu for lunch. Please take a look below at the menu for next week.

This morning we were so luck to have Officer Valle and Officer Mott join us for an exciting talk about their job and their uniform. They also stayed to help us with our Turn toward love panel. Ask your child to tell you more about our visitors.

During Jumpbunch class the children enjoyed using their gross motor skills to play basketball. They enjoyed throwing their balls through a hula hoop and a basketball net.

We paraded around the USA this afternoon spreading our LOVE and RESPECT for the USA. The children had a great time showing their PRIDE for the USA.

Tomorrow we will be having Chick-fil-A for lunch. We will also be wishing Jackson, Evan and Caelan a wonderful transition into their new school. We will miss them very much!

Splash day is also tomorrow. Please remember a dry change of clothes, a plastic bag for the wet clothes and safe shoes.
