Did you know there are spiders all over the world? We continued to learn about spiders and discovered that they live all around the world just like we do. We also worked with the spider nomenclature lesson to learn the names of a spider’s body(head, cephalothorax, eyes, legs, and fangs) and some friends made booklets to take home.

The children had a fun time in Soccer Shots, a good time was had by all as they ran, practiced drills and tried to kick goals.

Welcome back! The shared all the fun they had(playing outside, going to a pumpkin patch, playing with friends, going to brunch, and getting to stay up late to watch the Astros).

Did you know that not all spiders have eight eyes? We read the book Spidersby Carolyn B. Otto and learned that spiders have eight legs, two main body parts but some spiders have six, four, two, and some have no eyes!

We practiced holding, walking, and passing scissors today.

Happy Birthday to our friend Luke who turned three years old on Saturday. Luke brought in yummy cookies for our afternoon snack.

Do you know what to do if your clothes catch on fire? We reviewed the fire safety tips we have learned throughout the week and recalled that if our clothes are on fire we Stop Drop and Roll. The children have really enjoyed learning about fire safety and are eager to share what they have learned.

A big thanks to our friend Raleigh who brought in his firefighter turn out gear to share with the class. The children were eager to see it and some even tried it on! During our work time the children worked on a cut and paste firefighter puzzle.

Our dancers had a great time in dance class this morning!

Do you know how to exit a room that has smoke? We read the book Stop Drop and Roll by Margery Cuyler and learned that smoke rises and the safest way to exit a room with smoke is to crawl. We also learned that before opening a door we should check it with our hand. If the door feels cold we may open the door if the door is hot we do not open the door, fire may be on the other side, we find a new way out.

The children had a fun time in Jumpbunch. We played Rocket Ball! The children threw soft balls wrapped in streamers across the room, to each other, and through a hoop!

We read one of our favorite stories: Miss Mingo and the Fire Drill by Jamie Harper about a class of animals who do not know what to do during a fire drill. We reviewed our fire drill procedures and walked the path to our meeting spot, that we learned is in the Bishop’s Garden, as we walked to chapel.

We worked on numeration(1-5) and (1-9) with our jack-o-lantern 1 to 1 matching lesson from our math area.

Take a look at the spooky cool shadow are project the children have been working on.
