We read the The Biggest Christmas Tree by Steven Kroll about two mice looking for the perfect Christmas tree.

Do you know what country Christmas trees come from? We learned that Germany is the country Christmas trees come from. We also learned that most Christmas trees are Evergreen trees because they “live” all year long.

The children had fun decorating their very own trees, take a look at them posted on our classroom door.

We will be having early dismissal tomorrow. School will be closing at 3:30 p.m.

Today we read The Friendly Beasts by Tomie dePaola about the animals living in the manger in the nativity, during our circle time we worked with our Nativity and saw some of the animals from the book. The children worked on their own Nativity scenes. They colored, cut, and glued the different characters to make their Nativity, they are eager to take them home. We also talked about the Nativity in chapel. Ms. Kari Ann read us a story about the Nativity.

The children are excited about taking home the ginger bread men we made yesterday. They are in their cubbies.

We read The Gingerbread Man by Jim Aylesworth and Keep Running Gingerbread Man by Steve Smallman about the gingerbread man’s adventures running away from those that wanted to have him for a snack.

The children enjoyed a gingerbread cookie for a snack, the majority of the children said they were yummy! We had fun making a cinnamon dough and making gingerbread men ornaments as well as decorating foam gingerbread men.

Welcome back, we hope everyone had a good weekend.

We read the story When Mindy Saved Hanukkah by Eric A. Kimmel about a girl named Mindy saving Hanukkah by going on a mission to get a candle for her family to celebrate the holiday. The children were excited to make their own paper menorah, we have posted them on our closet doors.

This afternoon Sydney’s mommy joined us to help us light our menorah and say the blessing for this seventh night of Hanukkah. The children also enjoyed a yummy Menorah snack made out of bananas and pretzel sticks that Sydney and her mom shared with the class, and were excited to take home a dreidel and some chocolate gelt.
