Apples! Apples! Apples!

We worked in the math area with a new apple quantity lesson as well as an apple quantity worksheet. We worked on numeration (1-10) as well as working on our fine motor skills. The children counted apples on individual cards and used their pincer fingers to clothes pin the amount of apples on each card. The children cut and glued numerals to the apple sets they counted on the quantity worksheet as well as coloring the apples.

Welcome back, we hope everyone enjoyed their weekend.

We read books about Johnny Appleseed. We learned that his real name was John Chapman, he wore a pot on his head that he cooked with and wore as a hat, he was a friend to everyone , he did not wear shoes, and he helped to plant apple trees around the United States. We celebrated his birthday by making edible Apple Jack necklaces.

Music class was lots of fun. There was lots of laughs, singing, and dancing.

The children have been working on an All About Me worksheet, we are posting them on their cubbies. Stop and take a look.

On circle we worked with our alphabet flash cards and played a guessing game with the book Clothes like Clues to jobs people do by Kathryn Helling and Deborah Hembrook. The children had fun guessing people’s job by looking at their clothes.

Did you know today is the first day of Fall? Our class talked about the seasons and learned there our four seasons. We also talked about some of the things that happen in the Fall like leaves changing color and falling from the trees, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and the cooler weather( we explained how in Houston it takes us a bit longer to feel the cooler weather!)

The children worked on their fine motor skills with an alphabet tracing worksheet. They are very excited to show you their work.

On circle we worked with our sound object matching cards. We matched objects to the beginning sound card they matched.(i.e. we matched a mop, mushroom, and milk to the beginning sound card that mice on it)

Our class had yoga class with Mr. Nick. He showed us some moves that helped us breathe and stretch. The children enjoyed the class.

Today was our first chapel. The children enjoyed singing sons with Father Art and Ms. Kerri Anne. We learned how to say mother and father in sign language.
