On circle we said good-bye to the month of August, we reviewed all the things we learned about the continents, Brazil, the Olympics, and plants, and we said hello to our new month: September.

The children worked on a parts of a plant worksheet. They cut out and labeled the parts of a flower and colored the flower. Each of the children received a veggie pal to grow at home. They are excited to watch them grow!

Reminder: Scholastic Book Orders are due tomorrow. Please make out checks to: Scholastic Book Clubs

On circle we worked with the lifecycle of an apple lesson in the science area. The children helped to sequence picture cards of the growth of an apple from a seed to an apple tree.

The children painted their hands to create apple prints! They turned out very nice, take a look at all the apples in our classroom.

Reminder: Scholastic book orders are due this Friday, September 2, 2016. You may write one check for both book clubs. Please make out checks to: Scholastic Book Clubs.

Welcome back, we hope everyone enjoyed their weekend.

We had a fun time in music class. Mr. Jason brought in rhythm sticks for the children to practice playing a quarter and eighth notes. The children had fun singing songs about the beach and fish. Bob the clam joined our class and helped Mr. Jason show the ukulele the children, they each had a turn playing it.

On circle we read the book Gus Grows a Plant by Frank Remkiewicz. In the story Gus the Rhino plants a seed and takes care of it as it grows into a sunflower plant. We reviewed the three things seeds need to grow: air, water, and light. This week we will review the facts we learned about plants, and how they grow.

This morning during our music class we had a fire drill, the children did a fantastic job getting to our safe spot!
