We read the book Johnny Appleseed by Jodie Shepherd and learned that he loved apples and help plant apple trees across the United States. Do you know what Johnny Appleseed’s real name is? We learned that his real name was John Chapman and that he was a friend to both people and animals.

The children worked on a new apple counting cards lesson from our math area. They counted the apples on each card and used a clothes pin to pin the correct answer.

Scholastic book orders are going out today. Please look on your child’s cubbies for the order forms. Order forms are due this Friday, September 29, 2017.

Did you know that if you plant an apple seed, an apple tree will grow? We worked with the lifecycle of a seed lesson from our science area. We learned that a seed grows into a seedling that grows into a tree that has buds that bloom into flowers that give us fruit. We also learned that the type of fruit tree that grows depends on the type of seed that was planted.

The children also enjoyed working with our clothes pin lesson in our Practical life area. They hung apples on a clothes line.
