Welcome back, we hope everyone enjoyed their weekend.

We had a fun time in music class. Mr. Jason brought in rhythm sticks for the children to practice playing a quarter and eighth notes. The children had fun singing songs about the beach and fish. Bob the clam joined our class and helped Mr. Jason show the ukulele the children, they each had a turn playing it.

On circle we read the book Gus Grows a Plant by Frank Remkiewicz. In the story Gus the Rhino plants a seed and takes care of it as it grows into a sunflower plant. We reviewed the three things seeds need to grow: air, water, and light. This week we will review the facts we learned about plants, and how they grow.

This morning during our music class we had a fire drill, the children did a fantastic job getting to our safe spot!

On circle we reviewed the lessons that were presented on circle: animal habitats, animal homes, and helpful and harmful animals. We also reviewed what a habitat is and the names of the five habitats we saw pictures of: forest, desert, savanna, rainforest, and arctic.

Take a look at our busy bees during our work time:

We continued to learn about animals and their homes. The children worked on an animal home matching worksheet. The children used their left to right skills to draw a line from the animal to their home.

The children had a fun time playing Jump Shark in Jumpbunch class. Coach Leon brought shark mats that the children jump on, over, and around of.

We are looking forward to the fun this afternoon in Arts Alive.

Reminder: There is no splash tomorrow.

Did you know that animals can be helpful to people?

We worked with our helpful and harmful animal lesson in the science area. We classified picture cards of animals that are helpful( they give us food and clothing, help us get rid of bugs, give us rides, etc.) and harmful( bite, sting, spread germs). The children were surprised by some of the animals and things they do to help us.

On circle we worked with our animal homes lesson in the science area. We matched animal picture cards to picture cards of their homes. (i.e. a bird and a nest) We also reviewed what a habitat is and worked with the animal habitat lesson.

Be on the look out for fancy necklaces made by the children. We put necklace making on our art shelf and the children are eager to create!
