Did you know vegetables come from seeds?

We reviewed the seed nomenclature lesson that we presented yesterday and worked with the vegetable basket in the language area. Our vegetable basket contains: a tomato, potato, carrot, garlic, green beans, bell pepper , and an onion. The children enjoyed matching vegetables to their corresponding picture cards as well as reviewing the names of the vegetables.

Today was our first Soccer Shots class of the summer. The children had a great time and were excited to see their coach again.

Welcome back, we hope every had a great weekend.

Did you know a seed has a coat? We worked with a seed nomenclature lesson in the science area. We learned the names of some of the parts of the seed: seed coat, seed leaf, embryo, and radical.

Today was the first day of summer music class. This week was Texas week, the children had a great time singing and dancing along with Mr. Jason to songs about Texas and by Texan musicians . The children also enjoyed visiting with Mr. Jason’s friend Rocky the Raccoon, who told them about his adventures.

The children enjoyed working on a gardening art project. They painted seedlings with their thumbprints and soil with brown paint and “planted” black eye peas. Take a look at their cool gardens that are displayed in the classroom.

Splash Day is tomorrow!!!! The children are very excited! Posted below are some helpful hints for tomorrow:

Please have your child dressed for Splash.

Please label your child’s towel.

Please apply sunscreen before arriving at school.

On circle we continued to work with the seed matching lesson. We reviewed the names of the seeds and plants.

Did you know that seeds come in all shapes and sizes? We looked at the seed cards we have been learning about and discovered that they were all shapes and sizes.

It’s not to late to register your child for the summer extracurricular activities. Stop by the front desk for information on registration forms.

Did you know there are seeds you can eat?

On circle we worked with a seed and plant matching lesson with which we matched picture cards of seeds with picture cards of its plant. We matched and learned the names of fennel, cumin, pumpkin, sunflower, flax, poppy, sesame, and mustard seeds. All of these seeds are seeds that are edible.

The children are excited to work with a new water color lesson on the art shelf. We are excited to see what works of art they create.
